Before I could start treatment I had to get a full-body PET scan to “stage” my
cancer—to determine how far it had spread in my body. (Click here for information
about Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stages.) The scan entailed getting injected with a special
radioactive dye that would spread through my system and light up areas with
cancerous cells.
When I called to make the appointment for the PET scan, the
scheduler asked me a list of questions about my general health and habits.
Do you smoke? No.
Are you diabetic? No.
Are you taking
steroids? No.
Have you ever been diagnosed
with cancer? Yes.
When? Last week.
Never thought I’d say that.
