Art Imitating Life?

Spotted this afternoon in the National Gallery of Art....



Ah yes. Just like the serene damsel depicted above, I often pause when putting on my blouse to read a few chapters of a book, becoming so enthralled that I don't realize that one breast is still waving in the open air, uncovered. Right.


Is it just me, or does anyone else find it disturbing that two little kids--who, judging by their size, are barely old enough to walk--are hanging out with a severed head?? The artists' implements in their hands notwithstanding, since when do kids play with (even fake) severed heads?

Your blog has proven why I always go to museums...to figure out why some of these things were created..plus it's funny to write about this stuff.
