Monticello

The back of the house, as seen from the great lawn

Yesterday I went to Monticello--home of our third president, Thomas Jefferson--with my dad, who's visiting, my sister, and her kids. It's beautifully situated on a hilltop outside Charlottesville, VA, surrounded by a large lush lawn, dozens of bright flowerbeds and loamy vegetable gardens, and acres and acres of woodland. Everything was greening and blooming with the Spring.

My nephews had the most fun simply running around the great lawn. Elijah made up a game called "Run the bun" which involved me throwing an imaginary bun downfield, which he would then run after, catch, and bring back. Soon Jonas was also running buns like his brother. Hilarious.

Here's a little video I took of Elijah describing the game of "Run the bun." Be sure to watch all the way to the end.

Too cute! This makes me want to invent a game that I win everytime too. Elijah is my inspiration!
