We watched this video clip, called "Mountain Talk," in my linguistics class last week. It's about a group of people who live in a small, rural town in the Appalachian mountains in North Carolina. Due to their isolation, they speak a unique dialect of English that includes words that only they know the definitions of. It's a fascinating glimpse into a little-seen, little-known segment of America.

Ummm... I watched this & loved it. Scott & I are already trying to incorporate "si'goggling" into our personality. Scott hasn't stopped talking in an old man hick accent since we watched it. l
That is crazy! I can't believe places like that still exist in America. Some of those people I could hardly understand. it was funny, though, don't get me wrong. We were laughing our heads off!
