For instance, my power went out in the wee hours of Saturday morning, which meant I didn't have any heat when I woke up. No hot water for a shower, either. It was alright as long as I was snuggled under two down comforters in my bed, but as the day wore on and the thermostat crept downward, I found it harder and harder to go about my regular activities without shivering. I finally braved the elements to take refuge at Rachel's house, which wasn't far and had plenty of electricity. (Thanks for letting me crash at your place, Rachel!)
Here are some photos I took in the neighborhood during my trek to Rachel's on Saturday afternoon.
The power came on at my place on Saturday night, but I was so cozy at Rachel's that I stayed the night. Sunday morning was clear, cold, and sunny. I geared up after lunch and made the snowy journey home. An excellent surprise awaited me: My awesome neighbor had cleared all the snow from on top of and around my car while I was gone.

I second the motion for the 'things I love' = electricity! Although there is a bit of angst at the whole global warming/polution/etc etc thing, electricity is, well, nice. And essential. And valuable. And makes ones day go so much smoother. Yes. I second the "I love electricity" motion. I hope you have plenty of it once it gets back on. Stay safe, stay warm.
I remember the blizzard of '96 in the DC area we lost electricity and it was CRAZY cold!
Glad you found a warm place to crash!
Love all the snow pics too!
