End of an Era

Dear Puffy Blue Bookbag,

This week I used you for the very last time. You have been my hearty scholastic companion these three years, toting books, papers, my laptop, snacks, highlighters, water bottles, and, on occasion, my umbrella.

From that Target shelf where I found you to my dining room floor and many places in between, you've been incredibly useful. I love your puffy blueness and messenger bag styling.

Your innards are torn and your outards are grimy. That sturdy shoulder strap could withstand anything, but some of your seams have frayed with use. It's possible that loose change is lodged in your lining, like coins between the couch cushions, never to be seen again.

Yes, we've had some good times, fair book bag. And now they are coming to a close. I attended the last class of my graduate school career this week, with you there at my side. Soon I'll turn in my final papers and you, my friend, will be allowed to bask in the satisfaction of a useful existence.

Farewell, dear book bag! Your awesome puffiness will live on in my memory forever.

(YAY! Classes are over! I'm in the home stretch and soon I'll be celebrating graduation!)
