Last weekend I went to visit my friend Angie in New York City. We met as college students during our junior year abroad in Paris, where we were both studying (wait for it) French at the NYU-in-France center. We bonded over David Letterman, haikus, letter-writing, and a love of chocolate, cheese, and Monet.
Over the weekend, we visited the Guggenheim Museum, which is all light and airy and swirly, like the inside of a seashell. The main exhibit was a little odd--most of the pieces made us screw up our faces with looks of bewilderment--but it's always good to get some culture, right?
Here we are inside. Guess which one is me.

As you might have guessed from our outfits, it was cold enough for a big Icelandic-wool sweater all weekend, though brilliantly sunny and otherwise quite pleasant outside. We walked all over the city, including traversing Central Park a couple of times, which helped justify the amazing dinner at Calle Ocho the first night and heavenly eggs Benedict brunch on Saturday.
The plant life in NYC hasn't quite hit the blossoming and booming craze that we have in DC at the moment, but I did spot these inviting periwinkle flowers at the Conservatory Garden in Central Park.

Until next time, New York!
